Peace ( not real name ), P for short turned 4 yesterday.
That’s side gist. The main gist is how P and I became paddies.
When P joined the school he was so shy and wouldn’t even talk to me. Some days he would cry and totally ignore me. He added few punches into the mix too. All of my ways to reach P was negative and this continued for almost a term. He would talk to his teacher and friends but go mute on me.
It hurts me sometimes so I took it as a challenge and a chance to do something right. Since he wouldn’t talk to me just like that maybe I could you know, get him to show me how he feels.
I called him aside one day and hailed him like he’s the only child in my life. He gave me a smile. That’s progress so I continued this for an entire week. His small smiles were like Windows of hope opening to me but I wanted to get in through the main door and that door had to be wide open. It’s now a challenge, remember?
His small smiles were like Windows of hope opening to me but I wanted to get in through the main door and that door had to be wide open.
The following week I saluted him. He looked surprised but I did it regardless. I’m sure he would have been thinking what the hell was wrong with this Ms Abigail but I had a goal. I called him aside on one of the days and told him that u didn’t want him to greet me the usual way- ” All I want from you when is a salute anytime I call your name. ” He nodded when I asked if it was okay.
That’s how our salute started. Any where I see him I’d shout his name so loud with all joy and throw a salute. He’d smile and do the same. This continued for an entire term. No greetings just salutes. One breakthrough was when some kid had hurt him and he came over to report. He talked! Ha! I was over the moon with joy who wouldn’t o?! The door has finally opened and look at me sitting in a corner and looking around in awe
We’re cool Friends now and we still salute each other.
